The Liqueur of Sardinia

THE MIRTO ROSSO (red myrtle)

Common in many areas of the Mediterranean, the Myrtle plant lends the countryside the unmistakablee colour of its white flowers and red berries. Whoever has been to Sardinia will have been won over by incomparable aroma of its most typical liqueur of its most typical liqueur and will undoubtedly have chosen it as an original present for their friends. Infact, for sardinians myrtle is the liqueur of frimdship. Many have tried to copy its authentic flavour, that of the ancient tradition, but only in mirto you can find the simple taste of the original recipe based on hydroalcoholic infusion of ripe berries from spontaneus myrtle shrubs. That is why mirto is the taste of your holidays in Sardinia and our hospitality.

THE MIRTO BIANCO (white myrtle)

Also a product of an ancient Sardinian recipe: the base ingredient of "white mirto" is myrtle leaves of an amber-yellow colour, its flavour is slightly drier compared with "red mirto", still mantainig, however, its unaltered aroma. This liqueur is also best served ice-cold.

THE "FILUFERRU"

This means "lead wire": this odd name was born in an age when farmers secretly distilled the dregs of pressed grapes. To keep this activity a secret, they would hide the alembics underground, marking the exact place with a piece of lead-wire to enable them to find the equipment, later on. Pure and trasparent, this distillate of pressed grapes has a strong and corroborative flavour.

In Sardinia you can also find other wonderful liqueurs made from laurel, basil, thistle, strawberry-tree, prickly-pear, juniper, lemon, melon, etc...

Last but not least is "Villacidro", an ancient liqueur with saffron.
